asked me to draw him a G1 Optimus Prime head looking straight onto the viewer. This was a tricky one due to the fact that i ink on paper with Microns rather than in an image editing program so there are quite a number of symmetrical issues with this one. Plus it suffers from my usual scrappy-line-syndrome - i just hope that with more practise this settles down.
Anyway i am overall reasonably happy with this. It was a nice distraction and took my mind of work and the stresses of life.
In case you're wondering this Prime is based heavily on E.J. Su's Prime from the IDW comics with some elements borrowed from the 20th Anniversary Edition figure.
Nothing wrong with a little asymmetry, as it gives a picture some character. There *can* be such a thing as "too perfect"... little wobblies aren't always bad.
I agree! That's kind of my line of thinking too. Transformers aren't just giant mindless robots, they're living organisms with characters and personalities and as such they have their own flaws and inperfections... even in their construction!!
It all goes back to the way Andy Wildman drew the old G1 comics when i was younger. His bots had curved lines and looked very organic yet still looked like robots. That style influenced me alot as a kid. Of course then i took a ten year break from drawing!!
Thanks dude. I appreciate the feedback from someone as talented as yourself. I would love to be able to do what you do... your style is just pure cool.

As of September 2009 =ImaginaryRosse joined the project and will be helping us out with the weekly choices. While things have changed over time, the essence of the newsletter is still the same. As of recent, the talented =Behana has joined us in bringing you this weekly newsletter and we are excited to have her on board. This is a special feature, with a selection of 50 manips from the past year that we loved.
